The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites the flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. The role reviews production schedules, confers with department supervisors to determine required material, locates material, initiates requisitions, establishes delivery sequences, arranges for in‑plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, monitors and controls the movement of material and parts along conveyor systems, compiles reports of material on hand, and maintains production records.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and execute freight shipments into and out of the installation using Global Freight Management (GFM), CMOS and Teams for LTLs/TLs.

Create and issue Commercial Bills of Lading (CBLs) to authorized civilian carriers within the DoD transportation system (DTR).

Execute freight shipments according to regulations.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of services provided by commercial carriers.

Maintain and interpret tenders from commercial carriers, applying discounts to select the most economical and quality service mode.

Ensure services meet “Best Value” requirements based on DoD transportation regulations.

Review customer requests for accuracy before entering CBL data into CMOS, shipping systems.

Consolidate, transport mode, carrier selective routing, documentation, preparation, verification, and processing of government and/or commercial Bills of Lading.

Provide technical advice and assistance on shipping government freight for Small Package Express shipments and outbound freight.

Inspect inbound shipments for improper handling by commercial carriers.

Show advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

Prepare Transportation Control Movement Documents in accordance with FACTS or manually.

Prepare required reports and maintain statistical data.

Validate all transportation account codes before shipments are entered.

Work mandatory overtime with material coordinators to ensure rail billing is completed and training is conducted.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High‑school graduate or equivalent.

Two years’ experience in industrial, commercial or government freight movement operations; HAZMAT certification desired.

Experience with DoD Transportation and supply computer programs such as CMOS, GFM, Syncada, FEDEX, UPS, DHL, and other DoD systems; patience, customer‑service orientation, and excellent communication skills required.

Must possess and maintain a current State of Colorado driver’s license at the time of hire or within 30 days.

Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) and a CAC and SECRET clearance.

Must receive a favorable background check and drug‑testing results.
