The Country Club of Waterbury offers an unparalleled golfing experience to its 300 golfing members, managing 22,000 rounds of member and guest play annually.
This position presents a unique opportunity to grow professionally alongside Alex Aulerich, as the newly appointed Head Golf Professional during the first year of a new golf operation. He was most recently the Senior Assistant at Oakmont Country Club, one of the leading clubs in staff development and growth historically.
Country Club of Waterbury prides itself on service excellence and a premier golfing experience. We are seeking a Lead Assistant Golf Professional to take a key role in our golf operation. This position will be a seasonal position. This position will involve leadership in daily operations, staff management, member relations, directing and running all Men's and Ladies' club tournaments, and the advancement of Country Club of Waterbury's golf programs.
Experience Required
Minimum of 3+ years' experience in golf operations at a private club or resort, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
PGA or LPGA Member in good standing.
A four-year college degree is preferred.
Proven experience in staff management and running club tournaments.
High proficiency in current technologies including Golf Genius, Northstar, Microsoft Office applications, and POS systems.
Essential Responsibilities
Director of Tournament Operations. Organize and manage club golf tournaments, events, and outings, actively promoting participation and creating memorable experiences for all participants.
Serve as the primary point of contact for event management, coordinating closely with other departments to ensure seamless execution.
Greet and engage with members, guests, and visitors, ensuring all interactions reflect the club's commitment to excellence.
Oversee golf operations including tee time management, daily golf shop functions and maintaining smooth and efficient day-to-day operations.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and during peak times, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Enforce and interpret club policies, rules, and regulations while fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere for members and staff.
Deliver high-level golf instruction to members across all skill levels, with a focus on expanding and enhancing Waterbury's teaching programs.
Play golf with members and guests to build relationships and provide insights on improving their game.
Help supervise the outside services program, ensuring the team maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, service, and professionalism.
Assist with club repair services, ensuring timely and accurate handling of member and guest needs.
Maintain accurate play counts, billing records, and financial accountability within golf operations.
Provide continuous feedback to the Head Golf Professional on operational improvements, staff performance, and member satisfaction.
Take responsibility for PGA of America member requirements, including ensuring professional development for yourself and the team.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to mentor and inspire a team of professionals.
Outstanding customer service skills with a strong focus on relationship building and member satisfaction.
Strong knowledge of the game of golf, including rules, etiquette, and a competitive golf skillset.
45-60 hours per week, with flexibility to work varying schedules based on club needs, including weekends and holidays.
