About the Club:
Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Barton Hills Country Club was founded in 1919 including an original Donald Ross design that opened in 1922. Originally operating as a dairy farm, Barton Hills sprawls across 160 acres of land including 115 bunkers and multiple tee options that range from 4538 to 7070 yards.
Throughout the club's history, Barton Hills is proud to have hosted USGA Major Championships such as the 98th Women's Amateur in 1998 (Grace Park), the 22nd US Women's Mid-Amateur in 2008 and is set to host the 8th Annual US Senior Women's Open this year (2026) in August.
Architects including Tyler Rae and Ron Pritchard have both contributed to course restoration over the past 10 years. Most recently, the club is excited to be working with Andrew Green to reflect Donald Ross' original course design.
Barton Hills Country Club has been recognized as one of the premier private clubs in the state and remains committed to providing Members and Guests with a first-class golf experience.
Experience Required The selected candidate ideally shall be a Class-A PGA Member in good standing, although Golf Professionals currently within the PGA Golf Management Program or PGA Apprenticeship Program will be considered.

Ideal Qualities for the Assistant Golf Professional Candidate
Dedicated to providing both Members and Guests with a first-class golfing experience
A team-first player capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated and passionate about the game of golf
Professional appearance with strong communication and character traits
Organized, detail-oriented and proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Welcome all Members and Guests into the Golf Shop and around the club
Assist in all aspects of the Golf Operation including Golf Shop Operations, Tournament Set-Up and Execution, Club-Fitting and Instruction, Merchandising and Outside Operations
Act as an ambassador to the Club while bringing positivity, energy and enthusiasm daily
Display excellent communication skills to keep Club Staff, Outside Ops and Maintenance Dept. informed about Events, Group Outings, etc.
Knowledge and familiarity with Golf Genius Tournament Software/Jonas POS Management a plus but not necessary
Support Barton Hills Country Club's active junior golf programming including weekly clinics and programs
Able to assist Merchandiser with placing/receiving special orders throughout the season
Assist with management of Outside Service Operation and Youth-based Caddie Program as needed to start daily play and assist with upkeep of staging area
Compensation and Benefits Seasonal Employment Period: April 15 th - October 15 th , 2026 (Flexible start and end)
Compensation components include a weekly salary of $800, with an anticipated teaching revenue/club repair potential of $5,000 - $10,000 (Junior Golf Program, PGA Junior League, Private/Group Lessons, Club Repair). Additionally, returning staff would be eligible for EOY bonus.
Lesson and Clinic income available to qualified candidates. Lesson rates for PGA Members are billed at $100/hour.
