Overview
The Country Club of Waterbury offers an unparalleled golfing experience to its 300 golfing members, managing 22,000 rounds of member and guest play annually. The Country Club of Waterbury is seeking a motivated, service-oriented Assistant Golf Professional to join our golf operations team. This position presents a unique opportunity to grow professionally alongside Alex Aulerich, as newly appointed Head Golf Professional during the first year of a new golf operation. He was most recently the Senior Assistant at Oakmont Country Club, one of the leading clubs in staff development and growth historically.
The Assistant Golf Professional will play a meaningful role in helping establish service standards, operational systems, and member programming from the ground up. This role is ideal for a golf professional looking to expand leadership skills, gain hands‑on experience in building and managing golf programs, and contribute to the long‑term vision and success of a private club operation.
Experience Required
PGA Associate or Class A PGA Professional preferred (or actively enrolled in the PGA Professional Golf Management Program)
Previous experience at a private club or high‑end daily‑fee facility preferred
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Playing ability and knowledge of the Rules of Golf
Experience with Golf Genius, Northstar, POS systems, Microsoft Office, and golf shop operations
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
Essential Responsibilities
Assist in the daily operation of the Golf Shop and overall golf operation
Provide exceptional service to members and guests, both on and off the golf course
Manage tee times, check‑ins, merchandise sales, and POS transactions
Assist with the planning and execution of member events, tournaments, and outings
Oversee and manage weekly Ladies’ 18‑hole and 9‑hole leagues
Support Ladies’ and Junior golf instruction programs, clinics, and junior golf initiatives
Enforce club policies, pace of play, and the Rules of Golf
Assist with merchandising, inventory control, and product displays in the Golf Shop
Coordinate with outside staff, caddies, and other club departments to ensure a seamless member experience
Maintain a visible and professional presence throughout the facility
