Position Summary As a Fleet Technician, you will maintain and repair the CHELCO and Southland Utilities fleet of vehicles and equipment. This role plays a vital part in keeping our operations running smoothly and safely.
What You’ll Do
Perform vehicle and equipment maintenance, repairs, inspections, and general duties safely.
Examine and repair cooperative vehicles and special equipment. To include vehicle systems, electrical, hydraulic, power trains, steering, brakes, air systems, and body work.
Investigate vehicle problems and assist with coordinating work to be performed and future repair requirements with the Shop Supervisor or the Master Fleet Technician.
Maintains RTA: accounting, parts, inventory, and preventative maintenance computer software for all vehicles.
Ensure shop, tools, and equipment are clean and maintained in an appropriate manner.
Perform other Corporate Services Department and cooperative-related duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and at least three years of related experience; or a US Environmental Protection Agency 609 Technician certification and the Automotive Service Excellence T8-Preventive Maintenance Inspection certification and at least two years of experience; or Automotive Service Excellence Master Certification and US Environmental Protection Agency 609 Technician certification and at least one year of related experience.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming related to vehicles.
Strength in troubleshooting, critical thinking, and equipment selection.
Ability to perform routine maintenance on vehicles.
Ability to keep hands and arms steady.
Ability to use multi-limb coordination, trunk strength, and manual dexterity.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
English language ability to converse with internal and/or external customers in English.

This position primarily works in a covered garage environment with some exposure to elements.
