We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to support accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for a large, complex organization. This role is responsible for end-to-end payroll administration, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations while providing exceptional service to employees and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Process multi-state, high-volume payroll accurately and on schedule for a large employee population Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations Review and reconcile payroll data, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and garnishments Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and audit requirements Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, responding to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner Partner with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure accurate employee data, new hires, terminations, and changes Support payroll audits, year-end processing (W-2s), and other regulatory reporting requirements Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls within payroll operations Qualifications
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) required 3–5 years of payroll experience within large, complex organizations Experience with Retirement Plans a plus Strong working knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements Experience processing multi-state payroll and handling high-volume employee populations Paycor experience preferred (not required) High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll-related reporting tools Preferred Skills
Experience with payroll system implementations or upgrades Background supporting audits and internal controls in a complex payroll environment Strong communication and collaboration skills
