Job Title: Facilities Operations Technician 2 Department: FAES | Center for Lake Erie Area Research Under the direction of Stone Laboratory's management, assists with and coordinates maintenance of all facilities, grounds, vehicles and related equipment; works directly with the facilities and maintenance leader to perform other maintenance and operational tasks related to facilities and operations including minor carpentry, painting, drywall, plumbing and electrical tasks; operates and maintains equipment in working order including mowers and trimmers, chainsaws, tractors, motor vehicle fleet, etc.; maintains inventory, care and organization of tools and other equipment as needed; conducts routine maintenance checks on all vehicles (i.e. oil changes, tires, cleaning, annual safety inspections, etc.); obtains cost estimates and works with third party vendors on needed vehicle repairs, grounds improvements and other required equipment maintenance; works with the Stone laboratory business office to facilitate necessary programmatic use of all vehicles and follows OSU policy and procedures related to vehicle maintenance and reporting; assists with pick‑up and delivery of food orders and freight as needed; assists with weekly trash removal from all grounds; assists with seasonal deployment of laboratory equipment (e.g. buoys) and infrastructure (vessels and docks); provides updates and reports to Stone Lab management and Director during weekly staff meetings and additionally as needed; identifies and communicates issues related to general operation; assists with the coordination/guidance of other part‑time and student staff and volunteers on duties assigned; performs other duties as assigned; this is a seasonal full‑time position, that will range from early Spring to late Fall (flexible beginning and end dates). Position located at Put‑in‑Bay, OH and will be seasonal.
Years of relevant experience required: 1 year; Preferred minimum years of relevant experience: 2-4.
Additional Information: This job profile is a Facilities Operations Technician 2 (T2 level) on the career roadmap. This is a Classified Civil Service position, which includes a 180 day probationary period.
The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
Location: Stone Laboratory (0118) Position Type: Seasonal (Seasonal) Scheduled Hours: 40
Shift: First Shift Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
