ESSEXVILLE-HAMPTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS JOB POSTING DATE: May 5, 2025 From July 1 – June 30.

SUMMARY: This position serves as the lead teacher in a classroom of GSRP children by planning, developing and implementing all classroom activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the ongoing program evaluation using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS).

Create meaningful program quality improvement goals and objectives using CLASS and other program data.

Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the classroom program and child screening(s) & assessment(s).

Organize caregiving staff for a specific group of children and overall care and supervision of children.

Collaborate with the teaching staff to create meaningful child development goals.

Assist in the daily operation of the program including clerical duties and development/implementation of stimulating activities.

Establish positive relationships with parents, staff, and the community.

Conduct (2) home visits and (2) parent/teacher conferences annually for every child and family.

Follow and implement the policies and procedures of the GSRP grant and Department of Health and Human Services Licensing Guidelines.

Ensure and carry out daily/weekly activities for the classroom licensing requirements.

Interact with children and families in a respectful manner and support social and emotional development.

Play with children, often getting down on the floor to interact with them.

Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.

Serve as “site director” for child care licensing purposes.

Be present in buildings with regular and continued attendance and punctuality.

Follow all Board Policies, Staff Handbook, and Administrative Guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

A valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Early Childhood Endorsement (ZA or ZS) OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development with a specialization in preschool teaching.

One or more years of experience working with preschool children.

Experience working with persons from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.

Proven credibility with peers.

Strong problem solving and time management skills.

Teaching/learning philosophy compatible with district vision.

Experience in a Peer Coaching Relationship.

Knowledge and understanding of curriculum planning.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

Valid Michigan Driver’s License.

Willingness to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR Certification.

Annual attendance at Blood Borne Pathogen Class and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Course.

Acceptable tuberculosis results.

Clear criminal record check as outlined by District, Program, and state regulations.

Initial physical health examination.

PAYMENT Salary: $33,750 - $42,000 annually, depending on experience, including benefits.
