Job Overview
The Sr. Demolition Worker isolates asbestos-containing or lead-contaminated work areas from a given structure and from outside areas. This position removes asbestos-containing materials from structural items and equipment as well as performs construction, demolition, and pipe insulation work. Job Responsibilities
Isolate asbestos-containing or lead-contaminated work areas from other areas of a given structure and from outside areas by erecting airtight temporary partitions. Seal doors and windows and decontaminate work and adjoining areas. Raze all or a portion of a structure that contains asbestos-containing materials, which may become friable if crushed or broken. Disassemble and move components of the structure that have been coated with asbestos-containing materials. Remove asbestos-containing materials in both friable and non-friable states from structural items and/or equipment. Encapsulate friable asbestos-containing material with a coating or penetrating sealing substance to prevent the release of asbestos fibers into the air. Prepare asbestos-containing materials for disposal, wet them, bag them, and place them in approved containers. Operate HEPA filter vacuuming and ventilation devices and/or employ wet cleaning methods to ensure clean air and surfaces during and at completion of work. Transport labeled asbestos or lead materials to approved waste disposal areas. Perform demolition and reuse preparation of work sites for construction projects. Handle pipe insulation, removal, and re-insulation for the maintenance group. Assist discretionary/move shop and construction shops as needed. Ensure activities are conducted professionally and ethically, and in accordance with KUMC Policies and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Perform job responsibilities safely and securely. Coordinate area work with other areas of KUMC to support KUMC goals and objectives. Develop, maintain, and expand job‑specific knowledge and skills to keep pace with industry changes and support the university’s commitment to excellence and innovation. Participate in relevant committees, task forces, or other similar activities. Maintain confidentiality of medical center, employee, and patient information and handle sensitive data with discretion and in accordance with KUMC policies and legal requirements. Maintain the highest standards of integrity, respect, professional conduct, and ethical standards. Required Qualifications
Three (3) years of experience in the building trades. Must meet fit‑testing requirements for required personal protection equipment (PPE). Preferred Qualifications

Pay Range: $22.66 – $32.85 per hour. Minimum: $22.66. Midpoint: $27.75. Maximum: $32.85. Benefits
