The Environmental Services Technician level I is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, clean, healing environment. Responsible for ensuring daily room cleaning and timely room turnaround times related to patient throughout within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The Environmental Services Technician, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and customer experience.

Environmental Services Department
Cleaning and Disinfection: Ensures all areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas, are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to maintain a safe environment.
Waste Management: Handles the proper disposal of medical and non-medical waste, including hazardous materials.
Linen Services: Manages the distribution and cleaning of linens used throughout the hospital.
Pest Control: Implements measures to prevent and control pest infestations.
Environmental Sustainability: Promotes eco-friendly practices such as recycling and energy conservation.

Location: Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, 83 W Miller St, Orlando, FL 32806.
Operating Hours: The Environmental Services department operates 24/7 to ensure continuous cleanliness and safety.
Patient Population Served
Women and Babies: The hospital specializes in the healthcare needs of women and newborns.
Labor and Delivery: Comprehensive care for expectant mothers, including high-risk pregnancies.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): Specialized care for premature and critically ill newborns.
Gynecology: Services include minimally invasive surgery, urogynecology, and pelvic health.
Breastfeeding Education: Support and education for new mothers on breastfeeding practices.

Responsibilities
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, using appropriate designated engagement techniques.
Responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms and ancillary areas, to include, but not limited to, bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage rooms as directed and any other areas that may require attention using designated and appropriate chemicals and cleaning procedures.
Must have good working knowledge and be capable of accessing and using all department related technology systems, such as but not limited to, the Bed Management systems.
Replenishes supplies as needed, remove bio-medical waste, trash and soiled linen as required daily and changes cubicle/window curtains as needed.
Completes patient room and bathroom cleaning daily to accommodate discharges/admissions and overall cleanliness standards utilizing the approved procedures for patient room cleaning to include Bed Management systems where applicable.
Performs duties while demonstrating working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the healthcare environment.
Adheres to all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety.
Operates UV disinfection machine as needed.
Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to initiatives to improve Customer Experience and cleanliness metrics.
Follows all infection prevention practices including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
Reports unsafe situations and turns in Engineering Service Requests for repair.
Ability to communicate, read, and write in standard English as this is the main business language.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
