JOB SUMMARY Our Shipping Clerk opportunity is a day shift position that requires some weekend work on Saturdays. Additionally, this position verifies and keeps records on outgoing shipments, verifies incoming shipments, prepares items for shipment, by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote “Safety First” mentality across the team. Compare identifying information and count, weight or measure items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Determine method of shipment. Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons. Create custom pallets or crates using raw wood, a saw, and a nail gun as needed. Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select pre-assembled containers. Insert items into containers. Nail or staple covers on wooden crates and bind containers with metal banding. Stamp, stencil or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. Post weights and shipping charges and affix postage. Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Operate tier lift truck forklift or use hand truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area. Utilize the ERP system and vendor online portal(s) to record, monitor, and track shipments and parts.
A successful candidate for this role will have: Knowledge of shipping procedures, freight documentation, and carrier requirements. Familiarity with warehouse operations, inventory control practices, and manufacturing workflow. Ability to accurately prepare, verify, and process shipping labels, bills of lading, and packing lists. Skill in using warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP software, and standard shipping platforms. Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or hand trucks (if required by employer). Strong attention to detail to ensure correct order selection, packaging, and documentation accuracy. Effective communication skills to coordinate with production, warehouse teams, and external carriers. Ability to perform basic math for counting, measuring, and verifying shipment quantities. Time-management and organizational skills to prioritize multiple outgoing shipments in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow safety protocols, maintain clean work areas, and comply with company and regulatory shipping standards.
Required/Preferred Education High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and one year of previous related shipping/warehouse experience or three to five years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
