Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker I

The City of Redding is accepting applications for the position of Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker I to fill one full-time position in the Airports Administration division.
The ideal candidate is expected to comply with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules and regulations. Any previous airport experience is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, runway, taxi‑way, and aircraft parking area surfaces to include paint striping, lighting systems and tie‑down ropes in accordance with Part 139 regulations.
Perform maintenance and repair of terminal buildings, and perimeter security fencing as necessary; respond to numerous tenant problems and complaints.
Perform installation and maintenance of landscaped areas at the two City owned airports.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of FAA regulations regarding safety, security, and FAA radio controlled ground movement on the airfield operations area.
Knowledge of safe operation of hand tools, portable power tools and vehicles.
Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, sheet metal and landscaping maintenance and repair techniques.
Ability to interact effectively with the public, tenants and employees.
Ability to operate equipment such as forklift, two‑axle trucks, brush chipper, tractor/mower, portable power tools, and safely operate City vehicles.
Ability to perform duties safely, with skill, diplomacy, and efficiency.
Education, Experience, and Special Requirements Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
Typical education would include a high school diploma or equivalent.
Typical experience would include semi‑skilled facility maintenance and construction work or park maintenance.
Possession of a valid California driver’s license, or the ability to acquire one within ten days of appointment.
Must be able to enter and work in confined spaces, participate in the Confined Space Program, and perform confined space rescue if needed.
