Gastroenterology / Therapeutic Endoscopy Physician (MD/DO)
Position Summary
The Gastroenterology / Therapeutic Endoscopy Physician provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. This role includes advanced endoscopic procedures, inpatient and outpatient clinical care, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, which may include EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), polypectomy, dilation, stent placement, and management of GI bleeding Provide inpatient consultative services and outpatient gastroenterology care Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans Interpret diagnostic studies including endoscopy findings, pathology reports, imaging, and laboratory results Collaborate with surgery, oncology, radiology, anesthesia, and other specialists as needed Educate patients and families on diagnoses, procedures, treatment options, and preventive care Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record Participate in call coverage and endoscopy unit responsibilities as required Adhere to quality, safety, and regulatory standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship Additional training or experience in advanced or therapeutic endoscopy preferred Board eligible or board certified in Gastroenterology Active or eligible state medical license DEA registration or eligibility Skills and Competencies
Advanced technical skills in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy Strong clinical judgment and procedural decision-making Excellent communication and patient counseling skills Ability to work effectively in a team-based, multidisciplinary environment Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care Work Environment
Combination of outpatient clinic, inpatient consult services, and endoscopy suite Schedule and call responsibilities vary by practice model and procedural volume Compensation & Benefits
