Job Description: Full-time Apprentice or Journeyman Lineman Location: Harrison, Nebraska Salary: Based on Experience.
Niobrara Electric Association (NEA), headquartered in Lusk, Wyoming, has an opening for a full-time Apprentice Lineman or Journeyman Lineman. NEA is a cooperative that serves over 5,400 square miles of territory with 2,320 miles of energized line in three states serving over 3,200 meters. Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
Develop an understanding of NEA, the NESC code, RUS Specifications and construction methods, and the APPA safety manual.
Render prompt and safe service.
Protect the reputation and public image of NEA and its staff.
Provide maximum assistance and support to his/her supervisor.
Promote and assist in the adherence to all adopted safety rules and practices, and report violations.
Keep informed of operating policies and procedures.
Participate in courses, seminars, and special meetings to improve technical skills.
Responsible for maintaining security on buildings, grounds, substations, and other company facilities and equipment.
Demonstrate continuous progress toward completion of apprenticeship program, if applicable, and gain experience in all types of electrical systems.
Perform basic vehicle pre-trip maintenance (check fluids and other essential vehicle functions).
Non-essential Job Functions
Assist with maintaining shop and yard areas.
Vehicle maintenance outside of basic pre-trip inspections.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Line school completion preferred.
High school degree or equivalent.
Demonstrate the ability to climb safely.
Ability to routinely lift 75 pounds.
First aid and CPR certification and be able to administer aid under any circumstance.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Live within 20 minutes of reporting office.
Basic mechanical understanding various systems encountered on a day-to-day basis.
License requirements
Valid driver’s license with CDL certification.
