Job Summary The Safety Manager is a field-focused safety leadership role responsible for supporting active construction project sites across the West Region. This position requires strong, hands-on construction field experience and the ability to work directly with crews, supervision, and project management to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and drive a proactive safety culture.
This is a permanent, full-time position intended to provide consistent, long-term safety leadership in the region. While a CHST certification is preferred, it is not required provided the candidate demonstrates strong, relevant field safety experience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day field safety leadership on active construction project sites
Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits, identify hazards, and verify corrective action close-out
Support and review JHAs, pre-task plans, permits, and safe work plans
Coach and mentor supervisors and crews on safe work practices and hazard recognition
Support incident reporting and investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action development
Assist project teams with client safety requirements, audits, and compliance documentation
Deliver or coordinate site-specific safety orientations and toolbox talks as needed
Track and maintain safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance metrics
Travel between project sites within the West Region as required (typically supporting multiple sites)
Position Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of construction safety experience, with significant field-based involvement
Experience supporting civil, underground utility, trenchless, or heavy construction projects strongly preferred
CHST preferred
OSHA 30 (Construction) required; OSHA 500/510 a plus
California Certified Gas Tester (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
CSP, ASP, etc. considered an asset
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent field experience)
Strong working knowledge of Cal OSHA construction standards
Ability to communicate effectively with field crews, supervision, and project management
Practical, solution-oriented approach to safety challenges
Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic safety management systems
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
Strong field presence and credibility with construction personnel
Hands-on, approachable leadership style
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently while aligning with corporate safety direction
Commitment to continuous improvement and a strong safety culture
