The Certified Medical Technician (CMT) is a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) who is responsible for the medication administration of the assigned nursing unit in long-term care or skilled care facilities. The C.M.T. performs all essential job functions of a Certified Nursing Assistant while ensuring the accurate administration of medications, as directed by nursing administration. Responsibilities
Able to administer medication by oral, rectal, topical, inhalation, eye or ear routes under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse. Maintain medication cart and ensure that storage areas are clean, neat, and appropriately locked. Obtain permission from a licensed nurse before administering PRN medication. Perform counts of non-narcotic medications with a medication technician or licensed nurse at the beginning and end of each shift. Check the supply of medications for each resident and coordinate with nursing staff for any reorder medication needs. Take vital signs correctly and report any significant changes in resident condition or vital signs to the Charge Nurse or Supervisor promptly. Document medication administered on MAR per facility policy and procedures. Work comfortably with frequent interruptions and emotional residents/patients and family members. Communicate effectively with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Must show CNA-M coursework listed on State of Maine CNA certification. Ability to work independently and with flexibility while exhibiting personal integrity. Schedule
