Description In collaboration with Division Chief(s) for each section and Center of Excellence (COE) leadership, plan, implement, direct, and evaluate Division activities for Children's National Hospital in accordance with accepted national standards and administrative policies. This position has primary responsibility for Division (and/or CMO) planning, budgeting, operations, and strategic growth. Integrate and coordinate the operations of the Division (and/or CMO) with other divisions and other elements of the COE and CNH enterprise.

Qualifications Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree Business Administration or other related discipline. (Required) MBA Masters of Health or Business Administration (MHA or MBA) preferred. (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience 10 years of related experience, with 7 years of progressive supervisory/management experience. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements. Demonstrated leadership and management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Expertise in department budget and interpersonal communication.

Functional Accountabilities

Contribute to the strategic plan for department services, including short-term and long-term objectives.

Collect and analyze customer feedback and evaluate department effectiveness.

Incorporate findings into plans to modify program and service delivery.

Plan, implement, direct and evaluate assigned department on a strategic and operational level to ensure the organization’s move to Top Tier and Employer of Choice.

Monitor department processes and seek opportunities to improve operations.

Exemplary Professional Practice

Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the professional practice model of care and care delivery models in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Accountable for efficient and effective implementation of strategies to achieve organizational financial goals.

Ensure the collection and dissemination of quality data to direct care staff and monitors trends to assist in decision making.

Provide a structure that will support a culture of patient and employee safety.

Monitor and evaluate assessment and care processes that are sensitive to the unique and diverse needs of the population.

Structural Empowerment

Facilitate professional development activities to enhance leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve employee performance.

Assess and advocate for resources to promote and strengthen professional development.

Partner with the organization and stakeholders to identify and plan for the needs in the community.

Budget and Financial Management

Participate in financial planning and budget preparation for assigned areas.

Manage department budget to ensure financial stability of the department for assigned areas.

Track, monitor, and evaluate budget for all line items for assigned areas.

Develop recommendations to meet budget requirements for assigned areas.

Ensure billing accuracy and compliance for both technical (facility) and professional (faculty) billing systems for assigned areas.

Program/Service Administration, Implementation and Human Resources Management

Implement strategic plan through management of day-to-day operations of the department.

Ensure compliance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures, and regulatory standards.

Track, monitor, and evaluate budget for all line items for assigned areas.

Ensure that performance evaluations, medical requirements and all other organizational circuit breakers for all staff are complete and on time.

Establish, build and sustain professional contacts for the purpose of building networks of people with similar goals that support similar interests.

Lead, coach, and mentor frontline managers and supervisors.

Monitor staffing plans/schedules to optimize productivity and ensure quality services.
