Associate Teaching Pastor: Citizens Church
Job Description: The Associate Teaching Pastor serves Citizens Church by preaching the Word of God in a multi-campus environment. Additional responsibilities will include member care and supporting the spiritual and organizational leadership of the church. This role is designed for a man who meets the biblical qualifications of an elder, demonstrates theological depth, pastoral warmth, and thrives in a collaborative leadership environment. He will preach up to 30 times per year, participate in leadership supporting the executive team, and help cultivate a culture of theological formation and spiritual maturity. This role may eventually be considered for campus or church planting leadership.
Position Qualifications: GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
A flourishing personal relationship with Jesus as exhibited by the fruit of the Spirit
Free from addiction or life-dominating sin; a commitment to living above reproach
Affirmation and upholding of Citizens Church’s Doctrines & Distinctives (Beliefs )
A passion for the mission to Enjoy God, Love People, and Make Disciples
Compliance with Citizen Church’s employee policies and procedures
Compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements
Flexibility of schedule, including nights and weekends, as needed by the ministry
Must demonstrate a clear background check
Perform other duties as required
RESPONSIBILITIES Preaching & Teaching
Participate on a multi-campus teaching team
Preach up to 30 times per year at the Sunday gathering
Engage in collaborative sermon planning and series development
Ensure biblical accuracy, theological depth, and pastoral sensitivity in all teaching
Participate in and receive post-sermon review and refinement
Contribute in other teaching environments as needed (forums, classes, etc.)
Meet the biblical qualifications of an elder
Enter into and complete the elder process
Care for church members through prayer and presence
Equip others through discipleship and theological guidance
Team and Organizational Collaboration
Support the leadership team and culture
Contribute to organizational and multiplication decisions
Demonstrate humility, teachability, and discernment in team settings
Contribute to church-wide initiatives and anchor events
Support other ministries through presence, prayer, and strategic input
Help identify, disciple, and develop future leaders and teachers
Grow into leading and managing teams
STAFF REQUIREMENTS
Spend regular time in the Word
Pray for Citizens Church and its people
Attend all-staff meetings and events
Support other ministries and attend church anchor events
Attend regular one-on-one meetings with direct supervisor
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of ministry experience preferred
Seminary degree (Th.M or equivalent) strongly preferred
Proven preaching and teaching ability with theological depth and pastoral warmth
Effective communicator, able to engage large gatherings and intimate settings
A history of discipleship relationships and spiritual leadership
Able to problem solve, manage conflict, and work well on diverse teams
Not quarrelsome but gentle and humble in both giving and receiving correction
Commitment to ongoing theological study and personal spiritual growth
Alignment with Citizens Church’s mission, vision, and leadership culture
