This 12‑week program is designed for active‑duty military personnel in the last 180 days of service with a mechanical background (MOS or prior experience). Upon completion, participants must agree to work at one of Ryder’s 800 service locations. Eligibility Criteria
Active‑duty military status In the last 180 days of military service Mechanical background (MOS or prior experience) Pass initial screening for program qualifications Agree to work at one Ryder service location after training Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary vocational education preferred At least 1 year of classroom training or work experience in mechanical repairs on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment; minimum tools per Maintenance policy 2.02 At least 1 year of advanced mechanical repairs and diagnostics, with proficiency in advanced diagnostics, overhaul, and repair of all vehicle components and systems preferred Effective interpersonal communication skills Ability to complete and apply required technical training as assigned Pass Ryder Regulated Status Requirements Demonstrated mechanical aptitude Highly thorough and dependable; willingness to work shifts and weekends as required Intermediate computer skills Non‑Commercial Driver’s License Class E Valid CDL Class A preferred; state license as required Safety‑sensitive position, non‑regulated tech Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Carry out standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections/repairs Perform preventive maintenance Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform necessary repairs Replace defective components as instructed Handle facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once a task is assigned Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as needed to support operations (e.g., Service Island support) Position Details
