SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Shipping Assistant position is responsible for receiving finished goods for shipment to various warehouse locations. This position will participate in a variety of material management functions including securing cartons, storing materials, and setting up departmental equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Secure cartons to be stored
Load trucks
Locate cartons to proper truck
Unload non‑conforming or returned materials and segregate them in hold area
Tag pallets for proper location and identity
Provide packers with pallets
Set up wrapper and additional departmental equipment
Key in daily production loaded onto trailers
Wrap each finished pallet
Assist in departmental programs of safety and housekeeping
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Valid tow motor/forklift license
Ability to follow detailed instructions, specifications, and safety protocols
Knowledge of production schedules, basic computer skills, and trash compactor
Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and task oriented
Speaks fluent English
Knowledge of basic math; ability to read and understand percentages and decimals
Manual dexterity with frequent mental and visual attention
Able to work as a team member
Understanding of NSOPs
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to position and lift 50–100 pounds
Ability to lift, bend, & stoop when required and stand for extended periods
Extended periods of crouching, squatting, and working with arms positioned above the head
