Under the general direction of the Branch Chief, a Supervisor I, in the Division of Safety and Management Services (DSMS), the incumbent serves as an analyst providing administrative, training and analytical support for the Workers' Compensation and Return-to-Work Program.

Consulting with employees, supervisors, and managers regarding medical issues, reasonable accommodation, return to work, and other related concerns;

Coordinating with various stakeholders regarding assigned cases;

Reviewing and interpreting medical reports to determine the most appropriate course of action;

Maintaining accurate and complete case documentation using electronic file systems, spreadsheets, and database;

Evaluating, authorizing, and/or recommending claim settlement solutions;

Facilitating resolution of employment status for employees unable to return to work in their usual occupation.

The incumbent is expected to utilize good organization/time management techniques to appropriately prioritize and complete work in a timely and accurate manner, display a positive attitude, and cultivate a team environment to help accomplish the Division's Missions and Goals.

This position is eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’ current telework policy. While Caltrans supports telework, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs.

Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate may be required to conduct business travel on behalf of the Department or commute to the headquarters location. Business travel reimbursements consider an employee's designated headquarters location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations and applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquarters location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
