Job Summary This entry-level position supports machine operators in processing materials and ensuring smooth production flow. The role assists with material handling, packaging, quality checks, and general production tasks while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist operators at the coil loading and packaging ends of the production line as needed.
Build pallets and shipping containers using hand and power tools.
Band and palletize metal coils and/or metal sheets, applying tags and labels to finished products.
Perform quality checks to verify product dimensions, weights, and specifications using appropriate tools.
Detect and report faulty operations or defective materials.
Move or carry parts, equipment, or materials as required.
Read and understand production orders.
Wrap and unwrap materials for processing or shipping.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Operate a sit‑down forklift safely (training and certification provided).
Meet production goals while complying with all safety requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to safely operate a forklift; training and certification provided.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow production orders and instructions.
Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
Strong communication, organization, and time‑management skills.
Willingness to learn and assist in various production tasks as needed.
Education and Experience Required
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
No prior manufacturing experience required, but a mechanical aptitude is a plus.
Working Conditions
Production facility with fluctuating temperatures and elevated noise levels.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2nd shift.
Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as business needs require.
Physical Requirements Occasionally: 0‑30% of the time lifting or carrying up to 10 lbs, pushing or pulling 1‑40 lbs, bending or stooping, reaching above shoulder level, driving automatic vehicles, operating machinery or power tools, climbing, walking, standing, sitting, working in extreme temperatures, repetitive motion, vision, hearing, dexterity, hand‑eye coordination.
Lifting or carrying: 51 or more lbs 31‑60% of the time.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): steel‑or composite‑toe boots, safety glasses, cut‑resistant gloves and arm guards, hearing protection.
