As a member of Johnsonville’s sanitation team, you’ll ensure all our facilities are cleaned in accordance with strict procedures to meet or exceed our high sanitation and food‑safety standards. Working with chemicals, hoses, lifts and other equipment, you’ll ensure our facilities are ready for the next shift of production.
Position Overview Starting Hourly Rate: $25.10 plus $2.00 shift premium. Skill block completion will increase hourly rate. Pay Range: $25.10 - $27.67 per hour
Hours: 9:00pm – 6:30am, Monday‑Friday (Training will be completed on 2nd shift, 5:00pm–2:00am) with weekend work expected Location: Watertown, WI
The Sanitation Technician will effectively clean and sanitize production equipment every night while following all required safety protocols for personal safety and chemical usage.
Responsibilities
Prepare facility equipment for cleaning by locking out machinery and covering all electrical equipment with plastic
Use cleaning and sanitizing chemicals
Rinse, foam, scrub, and sanitize production equipment ensuring that all areas meet Johnsonville and USDA standards of acceptability
Conduct environmental and bioluminescence swabbing
Wipe condensation
Must be able to complete sanitation documentation paperwork accurately
Ability to perform responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner
Comply with GMPs and safety rules at all times
Be able to perform and rotate through several job areas within the plant
Ability to work between 8 and 11 hour nights depending on workload along with rotating weekend days, as needed
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience
Basic sanitation experience preferred
Skills
Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's)
Must be able to identify Critical Control Points (CCPs) in area of responsibility and maintain all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
Must be dependable, honest and proactive
Strong written and verbal communication skills required
Strong math background is preferred
Must be able to become certified in chemical usage
Physical Demands Physical Demands:
Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up 50 lbs, and hand grip up to 60 lbs on a regular basis
Ability to work in cold and wet conditions
Ability to hold a high‑powered hose for an extended period of time
Ability to work at heights, at times
Walking and/or Standing throughout the shift
Bending and/or Reaching throughout the shift

Ability to pass a pre‑employment, post offer drug screen, physical and background check
