Software Engineer – Flight & Avionics Systems

Data Intelligence, LLC (DI) is seeking a Software Engineer to support development of flight software and embedded mission systems for a next-generation military tilt rotor aircraft program. This role is focused on hands‑on software development, verification, and domain-specific implementation within avionics and mission‑critical environments. This position is contingent upon winning award.
Responsibilities
Develop, integrate, and maintain embedded and flight software
Implement software using C/C++ and Python in real‑time environments
Perform software verification and validation in accordance with DO‑178
Support hardware/software integration activities
Develop and execute software‑level and integration test cases
Author and maintain technical documentation, including software design descriptions and verification artifacts
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field
Required Qualifications
5+ years of professional experience in embedded or flight software development
Proficiency with C/C++ and Python
Experience working in regulated or compliance‑driven environments
Candidates must demonstrate strong depth in at least one domain and working experience or exposure to others:
Embedded Flight Software
Hands‑on development of embedded or real‑time software
Experience with safety‑critical or mission‑critical applications
Avionics Software Systems
Software supporting avionics functions, mission computing, or aircraft subsystems
Understanding of aviation software lifecycle constraints
Software Verification (DO‑178)
Experience developing verification artifacts, test cases, and compliance evidence
Familiarity with certification‑driven development environments
Real‑Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
Experience developing or integrating software within RTOS environments
Understanding of timing, determinism, and performance constraints
Integration Support
Participation in software‑to‑hardware or software‑to‑system integration efforts
Experience troubleshooting integration issues in lab or system environments
Preferred Domain Expertise
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
AHMI Design
Glass Cockpit
Tactical Communications
Military Aircraft Navigation
Embedded Mission Systems
TSN & Backbone
Military Aircraft Systems
Aircraft Survivability systems
