What We Are Looking For A detail‑oriented individual with the ability to work independently to provide legal support to attorneys in the drafting of legal documents, legal research, and hearing preparation.

Where We Are Located This position is headquartered at the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI. After an initial training period, the position allows working remotely up to five days per week. All employees are generally expected to work in the state of Wisconsin. The position will be required to come into the office for trainings, meetings, and other operational needs. This topic will be discussed more at the time of interview.

Position Summary This position is responsible for providing legal support to attorneys in complex regulatory litigation within the Division of Legal Services and Compliance (DLSC). Duties include drafting and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal and factual research, managing large and complex case files, coordinating discovery and hearings, and assisting with open records requests.

Salary Information This position is in schedule‑range (07‑04) with an

annual salary of $57,200 – $73,840 plus excellent benefits . A twelve‑month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details Prior to any appointments for positions filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check. Qualifications

Experience drafting legal documents such as pleadings, subpoenas, affidavits, findings of fact, discovery requests and responses, stipulations, briefs, etc.

Experience using computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Adobe, or comparable.

Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders via phone, email, in person or comparable methods.

Experience performing tasks with a high level of attention to detail. Experience may include organizing and maintaining case files, managing legal calendars, or preparing status updates for attorneys and/or customers, etc.

In addition, well qualified applicants will have experience with at least two of the following:

Paralegal certification or related degree or experience working in a paralegal role.

Experience handling a large caseload (50 or more cases and of varying complexity) in various stages in the litigation process.

Experience in hearing or trial support – Such as experience preparing for and supporting hearings, administrative proceedings, or litigation, including witness preparation, exhibit preparation, organization and management, and on‑site assistance to attorneys.

Experience working with Wisconsin State Statutes and Administrative Code, or in one or more of the following practice areas: administrative law, licensing law, criminal law or civil litigation.

Experience performing legal research (e.g., statutes, codes, case law, etc.) utilizing legal databases (e.g., Lexis Nexis, LOIS, Shepard’s, Westlaw, etc.).
