Maintenance Worker I – Various Locations

The Maintenance Worker I position plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the city’s iconic public spaces—including parks, community centers, the Civic Center Complex, and Downtown areas.
Responsibilities
Perform trash pickup and operate litter control devices
Trim and prune shrubs and trees
Clean ramadas, sidewalks, patios, restrooms, and drinking fountains
Trim and weed areas using powered mowers, weed‑eaters, and manual tools
Inspect grounds for hazards and report findings to supervisor
Operate city‑owned vehicles including trucks, small tractors, and EZ‑GO carts
Rake and weed planters, granite areas, playgrounds, and picnic areas
Perform minor sprinkler repairs and maintenance

Minimum Qualifications
High‑school diploma or GED
Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties described and excellent customer service skills
Licensing, Certifications & Other Requirements
Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with no major citations within the past 39 months
Driver’s licenses issued out of state must be surrendered within 10 days of relocation to Arizona
All employees must reside in Arizona during active employment
Selection Process The application and supplemental questions are essential for consideration. Unanswered or incomplete responses may result in disqualification. Background checks include FBI fingerprinting, criminal background screening, drug screening, and 39‑month motor‑vehicle record check.
