The Operating Room Supplies Coordinator is a hands‑on, entry‑level position focused on materials management, inventory control, and supply logistics within Surgical Services. This role is designed for individuals interested in healthcare supply chain, not administrative or clerical work. The OR Coordinator is primarily active and self‑sufficient, supporting the daily flow of supplies, equipment, and materials that keep the operating rooms functioning safely and efficiently. Success in this role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and comfort working directly in clinical environments alongside OR staff.
What You'll Do
Order, receive, stock, and distribute supplies for the OR areas
Maintain accurate inventory by monitoring usage, adjusting par levels, and replenishing supplies
Keep supply areas clean, organized, and audit‑ready; manage expired, obsolete, or backordered items
Perform inventory transactions and audits using Lawson and handheld inventory systems
Resolve supply issues and inventory discrepancies; communicate updates to OR staff and leadership
Coordinate with vendors and company representatives for products and deliveries
Support equipment needs by coordinating repairs, loaners, and substitute equipment
Assist with year‑end inventories, cost‑containment initiatives, and emergency supply readiness
Participate in supply chain meetings, huddles, and disaster response activities
Follow all departmental policies and regulatory standards related to supply management
Work Environment & Physical Expectations
Frequent walking throughout surgical and perioperative areas
Regular bending, stooping, and reaching to stock and retrieve supplies
Ability to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 lbs
Work performed in a fast‑paced clinical environment with changing priorities
What We're Looking For Education
High School Diploma or GED, required
Bachelor’s degree, preferred
Experience
Minimum of three years of materials management experience OR
Minimum of three years of broad OR/Surgical Services experience, required
Surgical Services experience must include direct involvement in materials management activities
Required Skills
Working knowledge of basic computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to learn and use inventory management systems
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to changing operational needs
Practical problem‑solving skills focused on workflow continuity
