Overview

As a fabricator, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, fabricating metal/wood components or structures, and performing quality checks on finished products. You may also be required to set up fabricating machines and design custom templates. To ensure success as a metal fabricator, you should have advanced knowledge of industrial metalwork, a good eye for detail, reading tape measures and basic mathematical skills. Ultimately, a top-class fabricator expertly constructs high-quality products to exact specifications. Primary Responsibilities

Conforming with company safety regulations to produce a safe working environment and quality product. Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints. Constructing base templates if necessary. Measuring and marking out, routing, cutting and bending metals. Setting up metalwork machinery including rollers, drill presses, torches, welders, brakes, and shears. Double-checking design specifications before starting each job. Fabricating and constructing metal/wood components with such methods as welding, gluing, or fastening Knowledge of mig welding, tig welding, or laser welding. Fabrication may include grinding and finishing. Assembly may be required on finished products. Performing quality checks on completed products. Operating forklift to move raw materials and finished products throughout the shop Completing jobs timely and accurately. Clocking in and out of each task and applying used raw materials to jobs. Must maintain all equipment and notify supervisor when issues arise or service is needed Computer Skills

Excellent verbal skills Able to interpret drawings/blue prints Self-motivated Problem solver – ability to identify root cause, desired results, assess and implement solutions Knowledgeable of department materials, tooling, equipment processes, and products Adaptability Deadline driven Teamwork oriented Ability to stand for long periods Ability to lift and manipulate large custom pieces Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis and up to 100 lbs on an infrequent basis
