Role Description The CNC Machining Specialist takes specifications and manufacturing drawings and uses CAM software to create CNC machining programs. This position also operates and monitors CNC and manual machines in order to produce machined parts that meet customer requirements. They also work extensively with engineering to produce quote packages and bids.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Minimum 5-7 years manual or CNC machining experience
Ability to read and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings
Demonstrated/strong CAM skills
Familiarity with programming and interpreting CNC software
Familiarity with industrial environments and safety practices
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree in Manufacturing Technology or equivalent
Prior experience with Mastercam and Solidworks
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Values precision and enforces quality standards
Responsibilities
Determine the fixtures, attachments and tooling necessary to complete jobs according to specifications, and mount them to machine prior to machining
Discuss customer requirements with engineers, supervisors, and customers to guarantee consistency between plans and products, and collaborate to modify designs when existing ones are not feasible
Use CAM software to translate 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings into CNC machining programs
Program, edit, modify, and maintain files for all parts made on CNC equipment
Provide estimates on time, material cost, and tooling cost and work with engineering and sales to quote complex machining jobs
Modify machine speed, tooling and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts
Oversee cutting process, catch mistakes as they happen, and take necessary measures to eliminate errors
Inspect all finished products for accuracy and conformity to ensure product quality
Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning and tool replacement
