Position Description
We are hiring a Permanent Full‑Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Mobile, Alabama.
Pay & Benefits
Hourly Pay:
$25.10 per hour Certification Bonus:
$100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700 total Quarterly Bonus:
Up to $500 each quarter (four times per year) Sign‑On Bonus:
$1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days Schedule:
Monday–Friday; weekends off Hours:
First shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections Carry out preventive maintenance Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable Identify root causes of basic failures and perform required repairs Replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints Use shop management systems and electronic documentation Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required, including service island support
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and experience in automotive gas or diesel engine repair, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience, preferred Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred; must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire if not already holding one
Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
