Heavy Equipment Operator I Waste

Summary
This heavy labor position is responsible for performing the following waste water duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of the water distribution and water collection systems.
Responsible for the repair of water/waste water problems as they arise? Supervises the crew of 1-3 staff members in the absence of the crew leader.
Operates equipment on water main breaks/water lines and oversees the repair of manhole rings and lids.
Oversees smoke testing and water line testing followed with applicable repairs.
Lays new water/sewer mains.
Distributes public correspondence notices and smoke test notices door to door to City of Lancaster citizens.
Available for 24 hours per day, 7 days a week unscheduled, on call status pending a water/waste water response situation.
Assigned as primary on-call responder once per month as scheduled.
Cleans and maintains the appearance of work equipment and work areas.
Responsible for inventory of tools and equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Class B (CDL) Drivers License with clean driving record
Class D Water Certification
Class D Waste Water Certification
Confined Space Entrant Certification
Driving is a requirement of this position
