What You Will Do This position will be filled at either the System Analyst 3 or 4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

As a senior member of the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Systems Support Team, your role will work closely with solution architects, system engineers, IT partners, and business stakeholders to implement approved designs, resolve complex production issues, and improve system functionality and usability. The successful candidate will provide deep system knowledge, ensure operational reliability, and support incremental modernization efforts for applications used by thousands of end users. In addition, the System Analyst 4 will be recognized as a subject matter expert, influence technical direction, standards, and long‑term strategy, lead or consult on highly complex, novel, or enterprise‑wide systems, provide consultive leadership across organizations, and exercise wide latitude in methods and technical judgement.

System Analyst 3 ($104,100 - $172,200)

Support operationally critical business functions, including payroll processing, fiscal year‑end activities, financial and labor interfaces, and time‑sensitive batch processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and system availability during peak operational periods.

Maintain, configure, and enhance CMMS/EAM applications, including application settings, database objects, integrations, and configuration management artifacts.

Provide advanced troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for complex production issues involving applications, data, interfaces, and reporting layers.

Participate in requirements gathering, functional analysis, testing, deployment, and post‑implementation support of system enhancements and user interfaces (e.g., TASHelix).

Develop, maintain, and support operational reports and analytics using SQL and MicroStrategy as the primary tools, with Power BI used as a complementary reporting capability.

Collaborate with maintenance operations, logistics, payroll, scheduling, and analytics teams to ensure systems effectively support operational workflows.

Work closely with central IT partners in the Applications and Data Services (ADS), Program Strategy and Execution (PSE), Infrastructure Services Division (ISD), and Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) divisions to ensure coordinated delivery, secure operations, and alignment with institutional standards.

Implement approved solution designs from architects, ensuring solutions are supportable, well‑documented, and aligned with operational realities.

Define, document, and maintain system configurations, workflows, support procedures, and technical documentation to improve maintainability and transparency.

Participate in modernization initiatives such as Action Tracking, user interface simplification, data quality improvements, and workflow optimization.

Contribute to cross‑training, mentoring, and knowledge‑sharing activities to strengthen team capability and operational resilience.

System Analyst 4 ($114,700 - $191,200)

Lead cross‑functional teams addressing complex business or systems issues.

Provide expert consultation on system architecture, design tradeoffs, and technical limitations.

Define and implement advanced concepts, standards, and best practices.

Support or lead feasibility studies and long‑range technical planning.

Influence future system designs, technologies, and institutional capabilities.

Coordinate or provide technical direction to other personnel on complex projects.

What You Need Minimum Job Requirements Technical Knowledge:

Demonstrated ability to support, configure, and enhance enterprise IT systems. Experience troubleshooting complex application, integration, and data issues. Working knowledge of relational databases (SQL/PL‑SQL), system configuration, and application integration. Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools such as MicroStrategy, Power BI, or Denodo. Understanding of system lifecycle practices including testing, documentation, change control, and operational support.

Software & Hardware Knowledge:

Experience supporting commercial or custom enterprise applications and low‑code platforms (e.g., TASHelix, NextAxiom HSS). Understanding of system architecture concepts and how applications, databases, servers, and networks interact. Familiarity with version control systems and basic DevSecOps or CI/CD practices.

Communication & Collaboration:

Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with business partners, architects, engineers, and IT organizations. Strong customer service orientation and commitment to continuous improvement.

Database & Reporting:

Experience writing and maintaining SQL queries, validating data, and supporting reporting solutions. Ability to identify and resolve data quality and integrity issues across integrated systems.

Additional Job Requirements for Systems Analyst 4 Technical Knowledge:

Knowledge of software risk management. Broad understanding of hardware, operating systems, networks, and web‑based technologies.

Software & Hardware Knowledge:

Expert‑level knowledge of system requirements, specifications, and functional interfaces; software design, maintenance, and documentation; application lifecycle frameworks and methodologies; software configuration management best practices; and verification and validation, including automated testing.

Communication & Collaboration:

Demonstrated ability to solve highly complex, ambiguous problems using independent judgment. Recognized expertise and consultative influence within the technical domain.

Education/Experience at System Analyst 3 level Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 8 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Post‑graduate coursework may be expected.

Education/Experience at System Analyst 4 level Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 12 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Post‑graduate coursework may be expected.

Desired Qualifications

Experience supporting CMMS, EAM, or similar enterprise systems such as Hitachi Asset Suite or Mobile Work Package (MWP).

Familiarity with web‑based technologies, low‑code or no‑code platforms, and modern user interface frameworks.

Experience supporting Linux or Windows server environments.

Experience with automated testing, including test design and execution.

Experience with basic scripting or automation to support system administration, data validation, or operational efficiency (e.g., Python or similar scripting languages).

Exposure to LANL, DOE, or other regulated operational environments.

Active Q clearance, or the ability to obtain one.

Work Location The work location for this position is hybrid and located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within a 2‑hour ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position Commitment Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required time, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details Directive 206.2 Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. This requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad. Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances.

New‑Employment Drug Test The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new‑employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre‑offer.

Regular Position Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular‑status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Incentive Compensation Program Position at the higher level is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program.
