Description We are looking for a skilled and highly organized Legal Secretary to join a dynamic plaintiff personal injury practice in Oakland, California. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of legal procedures, case management, and trial preparation, with a focus on supporting attorneys through efficient and detail-oriented administrative tasks. This role requires excellent multitasking skills and a proactive approach to managing case files from intake to trial. Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Handle intake processes and organize medical records for ongoing cases.
- Prepare and file legal documents electronically, adhering to court deadlines and procedures.
- Maintain and update calendars, scheduling hearings, deadlines, and client meetings.
- Support discovery processes, including gathering information and drafting responses.
- Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and coordinating logistics.
- Manage dictation and transcription tasks with precision and timeliness.
- Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and other legal professionals.
- Utilize case management software to track deadlines and ensure compliance with California legal protocols. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant.
- Proficiency in electronic filing and court document preparation.
- Strong skills in calendar management and deadline tracking under California rules.
- Familiarity with personal injury case procedures and discovery processes.
- Experience with case management software and legal technology tools.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high attention to detail.
