Your Specific Responsibilities: The position of the Health Services Representative in the Tuberculosis (TB) area is responsible for providing support to the TB nurse case managers; providing Directly Observed Therapy (DOT); assisting with contact investigations and identifying TB cases. The role functions independently within the TB team and may be exposed to respiratory pathogens (Moderate Risk Level) and bloodborne pathogens under OSHA guidelines. The representative performs semi‑annual TB assessments, maintains up‑to‑date vaccinations, and participates in performance improvement and the Department’s ICARE values.

Coordinates, schedules, and provides DOT in clinic and field settings.

Initiates or assists with contact investigations; facilitates testing; collects data; interviews clients and contacts; reports status to the Nurse Case Manager.

Locates lost or non‑adherent clients through phone, home visits, or field investigations; initiates corrective actions and reports status.

Performs basic testing for TB Program clients (TST planting/reading, sputum inductions, HIV counseling/testing, phlebotomy).

Provides education on TB and related topics.

Collects and records TB data into the Health Management System (HMS) electronic health record; assists with TB reporting and Quality Improvement (QI).

Assists with respiratory fit‑testing program; performs fit testing and documents results.

Sets up and maintains remote video monitoring equipment for DOT; documents equipment assignment.

Provides backup in clinic area (consultations on suspect/active cases, symptom screenings, TSTs, and other clinic assignments).

Completes administrative duties (cell phone verification, travel logs, reimbursement timesheets, employee activity records, meetings, trainings).

Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of tuberculosis disease process and community implications.

Knowledge of medication management, adverse effect assessment, and emergency procedures.

Knowledge of correct spelling, grammar, punctuation; effective communication and documentation.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Ability to conduct fact‑finding interviews, health investigations, and maintain confidentiality.

Ability to prioritize, organize, and adapt to scheduled assignments.

Ability to set up and operate a video telephone.

Ability to perform data entry, use Excel spreadsheets, fax machines, multi‑line telephone, and cell phone.

Qualifications: Minimum:

Current driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to use personal vehicle for business travel.

Completed Disaster Training: Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, and 700 within 90 days of employment.

Willingness to wear an N‑95 respirator.

Fluent in English and Spanish or English and Creole.

Ability to perform phlebotomy and interpret TST results.

Potential emergency duty outside normal hours, including disaster or crisis response.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in health or science from a U.S. accredited institution, or equivalent experience in TB/surveillance programs.

Four years of direct experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.

Experience drawing blood.

Experience with Directly Observed Therapy (DOT).

Experience using electronic health records.

Experience working in TB, communicable disease, or surveillance programs.
