This position pays between $18.65 – $19.90/hr based on experience. The role is onsite at HSHS – St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL.
Responsibilities
Assess and collect patient liabilities, including copays, deductibles, co‑insurance, and balances after financial assistance.
Verify patient insurance and financial information to determine liability, utilizing face‑to‑face communication during their stay.
Handle various patient access, insurance eligibility, and follow‑up reports as assigned.
Facilitate daily in‑house call reviews to ensure patients have a valid payor source with authorization on the account for the current stay.
Complete pre‑registration and registration tasks, including registering patients at the time of service or prior to the date of service while attempting to collect the patient’s financial liability.
Monitor missed collection opportunities for potential process improvements; make at least three attempts each day to visit a patient’s room if the patient is otherwise preoccupied.
Document all accounts with a patient liability daily.
Make follow‑up phone calls to patients who are unable to make a payment while in‑house.
Send letters to patients’ addresses post‑discharge detailing an estimated liability and options to pay.
Coordinate with patients to sign consent to treat, observation, Important Message from Medicare, and other registration‑related forms as applicable.
Assist eligibility specialists in verifying insurance information, Medicaid, and charity processing, and performing other tasks as needed.
Run a daily census to determine patients with potential eligibility.
Collect and organize outpatient orders related to future and current dates of service, utilizing queues built within various Revenue Cycle systems.

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED required
CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) required within 6 months of hire (Company paid)
