Schedule: Full‑Time (37.5 hours), 2nd Shift, Monday – Friday 2:00pm – 10:00pm

About the Department For over 160 years, DVA has been caring for its veterans and their dependents. As a Department, we believe in 'serving those who have served.' This is accomplished through our Office of Advocacy and Assistance, Residential Facility, Healthcare Center, and Cemetery and Burial Services.
Examples of Duties
Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as checking gauges, steam trap indicators, belt tension, etc.
Change filters (water, gas, HVACR, etc.)
Inspect doors for damage; tighten hinges, cabinets, and lubricate as needed
Replace castors, clean grease traps, clean strainers, boilers
Perform minor repairs (patch walls, replace washers, repair leaks in toilets, drinking fountains)
Attach shelving; put up bulletin boards and pictures; clean motor housings, ducts, mechanical equipment
Act as relief person for other maintenance employees; perform custodial functions as required
Move furniture and perform related duties as required
Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Ability to follow instructions; learn policies and procedures
Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in daily work
Record keeping
Minimum Qualifications Any experience and training that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing services for a facility that operates 24/7/365
Experience working in a healthcare environment
Experience with custodial duties
Experience with building and equipment maintenance
Valid driver's license
Experience with trades such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting
Special Requirements
May be required to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permits and/or certifications
Physical Requirements
Adequate physical strength, stamina, agility, visual and auditory acuity, and maintain physical fitness to perform duties
Physical examination may be required
Working Conditions
May need to lift moderate to heavy weights
May be exposed to extreme weather conditions and risk of injury from equipment and assaultive/abusive patients or clients
May require completion of an asbestos removal program consistent with EPA guidelines for operations and maintenance
May require use of protective equipment such as respirators and safety goggles
