Data Management Specialist / Vehicle Assembly Structure Administrator – GM Defense
The Data Management Specialist/Vehicle Assembly Structure (VAS) Administrator is responsible for facilitating data exchange between GM Defense (GMD) and suppliers via the Sterling application, as well as managing data exchange between GMD and GM LLC. This includes converting data files between NX and neutral file types such as STEP, STL, and JT, importing data into Teamcenter, and ensuring the GMD Teamcenter database is synchronized with the GM LLC database. The role also involves developing virtual integration solutions, coordinating program administration with the Virtual Design Lead Technical or Senior Virtual Designer, and conducting virtual data queries and analysis from part to complete vehicle configurations.
What You’ll Do
Attend Information Governance (IG) Board meetings to review data requests from the GMD team
Export NX data files from GMD to LLC Teamcenter databases in formats such as .prt, STL, or JT, performing file conversion when required
Import data into Teamcenter
Use the Sterling application for data exchange to/from suppliers and between GMD and GM LLC databases
Perform Teamcenter Multi‑Site operations to remotely import data from GM LLC databases
Provide general GMD Teamcenter support, including applying GMD Teamcenter projects, assisting with workflows, and managing group ownerships
Collaborate with the PLM team when new GMD Teamcenter projects are required
Support Virtual Health Check issues
Participate in learning sessions for the given SMT
Manage math issues in close partnership with the DRE, DE, and DLT to resolve them
Ensure configuration requirements (variants) are applied with quality and on time
Create and maintain design standards and best practices (Global Design InfoBOOK and Design Standard Work)
Support all sync‑point math readiness activities
Stay ahead of current product developments and trends in the area of responsibility
Perform as an expert in VAS, with high skills in GM CAD and Data Management System and Teamcenter Visualization
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design / Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
Minimum 3 years of product design experience
Proficiency in CAD software and tools (NX, Teamcenter Engineering, Teamcenter Visualization)
Proficient knowledge of GM Design Standards, VAS Standards & Configurable Databases
Proficiency in math release process, specifications, and data management
Strong attention to detail
Excellent communication skills to create and present information to internal customers and leadership in a clear and concise manner
Extensive experience in VAS and data structures
Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee)
