Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently looking for a Manager to lead the Modeling & Simulation System Engineering (M&S_SE) team in support of research and new product development in the Aerospace Mission Systems Division (MSD). The role will focus on driving an “analysis first” culture, managing the Stress/Structural Analysis Group, and partnering with product teams across the organization.
What You’ll Do
Provide technical oversight of the M&S_SE team, reviewing analysis plans, participating in technical reviews, and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
Build proactive communication paths with product teams to leverage analysis beyond traditional deliverables for risk mitigation, test-plan development, and critical design decisions.
Execute functional management duties: resource management, career development, performance reviews, and goal alignment with business objectives.
Develop standard work practices and lessons learned, collaborating with other AEROSPACE M&S groups and leadership.
Provide labor‑hour estimates and rationale to support proposal and business‑development requests; participate in gate reviews representing the M&S teams.
Define and own metrics to measure progress of the “analysis first” mindset across sites.
Initiate culture change at your site by driving inclusion of M&S_SE work scope in IPT requests.
Serve as peer reviewer, mentor, and consultant to local and other MSD/AEROSPACE sites.
Participate in root‑cause investigations, bid and proposal reviews, and design reviews for the M&S_SE groups.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum ten (10) years of experience supporting modeling and simulation and/or systems engineering.
Minimum five (5) years of experience conducting multi‑dimensional thermal, stress, or analysis of mechanical systems and components.
Minimum three (3) years of functional management experience.
Prior leadership experience in modeling and simulation projects.
U.S. citizenship required per federal contract requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering discipline.
15+ years combined work experience supporting M&S and/or SE teams.
Experience in the aerospace industry.
Direct experience with ANSYS Workbench, LS‑DYNA, AFGROW.
Direct experience with DOORS and/or CAMEO.
Experience working with global teams.
Membership in a professional society related to the discipline (e.g., ASME, SAE).
Knowledge of Simulation Process Data Management (SPDM).
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt certification or ability to complete within one year.
Skills & Competencies
Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
Ability to elevate technical issues to leadership promptly.
Strong technical expertise in Thermal Fluids, Stress Analysis, and Data Analysis.
Understanding of traditional Systems Engineering principles.
Functional management of M&S teams and project management skills.
Relationship building and maintenance.
