Job Summary & Qualifications The HCA Nurse Residency Program at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital provides the tools necessary to succeed in today’s hospital environment. This paid program offers:
Advanced clinical training in a specialty area
Monthly educational sessions
Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor
Simulation‑based measurement and evaluation of skills
Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders
Collaboration on an evidence‑based practice project
Responsibilities
Assess patient condition during admission and at each shift, identifying and reporting changes in patient status.
Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document care promptly and thoroughly in the patient medical record.
Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, notify provider, and intervene appropriately in the event of an unintended response.
Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipate needs, and resolve them proactively.
Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow‑up measures; translate complex terminology into clear, understandable language.
Qualifications
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment
Other certifications may be required during employment
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse in the state
No previous experience required
Potential travel for training may be needed
