Job Summary
Maintain grounds and landscaping in a clean, orderly, and attractive manner.
Clear debris, trash, and clean sidewalks; dispose of debris and trash properly.
Monitor daily maintenance and upkeep of landscaping and grounds during daily rounds.
Carry out corrective and preventative maintenance on various equipment and systems.
Provide customer‑service‑oriented support to internal and external customers.
Perform maintenance duties related to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire alarm system, pneumatic tube system, physical plant equipment, carpentry, and other assigned tasks.
Assist other staff with maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance procedures.
Work under general supervision on assigned jobs.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Graduate or equivalent; GED required within 6 months of hire.
Minimum of one year of experience in equipment, utilities, or grounds maintenance; preferred experience in a health‑care environment.
No specific licensure or certification required.
Basic knowledge of maintenance disciplines and ability to use hand tools and power tools.
Working knowledge of computers to complete work orders and preventative maintenance using the maintenance software program.
Knowledge and Skills
Familiarity with healthcare HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and physical plant equipment.
Preferred knowledge of healthcare DHEC, NFPA, and specific code requirements.
Strong troubleshooting skills across maintenance disciplines.
Work Demands / Environment
Constant standing, walking, and heavy physical effort (lifting, moving, or carrying up to 60 lbs).
Use of finger/hand dexterity, reaching with hands/arms, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, climbing, and balancing.
Exposure to wet or humid conditions, dust, fumes, gases, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and electrical shock.
Moderate to loud noise level; requires hand‑eye coordination.
Ability to work in a hospital environment and to work weekends or holidays as needed.
Availability to remain on duty during emergency situations (e.g., hurricanes, earthquakes).
