Summary The First Tactical Warehouse Forklift Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of forklift operations in the warehouse. This includes leading a team of forklift operators, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of forklifts, managing the movement of materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities Forklift Operation

Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move products, supplies, and equipment throughout the warehouse.

Safely load and unload materials from trucks, racks, and storage areas.

Ensure the proper handling of materials to prevent damage and ensure inventory accuracy.

Team Leadership And Supervision

Lead and oversee a team of forklift operators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high levels of performance and safety.

Assign daily tasks and ensure team members are adhering to work schedules and safety procedures.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to forklift operators to enhance productivity and safety.

Inventory Management

Ensure inventory is stored correctly in the designated areas, including proper stacking, shelving, and labeling.

Assist with conducting regular cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain inventory accuracy.

Work with the warehouse manager to track inventory levels and assist in restocking materials as needed.

Safety And Compliance

Ensure all forklift operators are following safety guidelines and company policies.

Enforce the proper use of forklifts and other warehouse equipment to minimize accidents and injuries.

Report any equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions and ensure prompt repairs or maintenance.

Warehouse Organization And Cleanliness

Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, ensuring that aisles are clear and accessible for forklift operators and other staff.

Oversee the proper storage of materials and ensure that they are organized according to company standards for easy retrieval.

Equipment Maintenance

Ensure forklifts and other equipment are properly maintained and serviced according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Conduct daily equipment checks to ensure forklifts are in safe working condition before use.

Training And Development

Provide training to new forklift operators, ensuring they are familiar with operational procedures, safety protocols, and company policies.

Continuously train team members to improve skills and efficiency in forklift operations and warehouse processes.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse environment.

Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is preferred.

Strong understanding of forklift operations and warehouse safety protocols.

Ability to train and mentor staff to improve productivity and safety.

Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in inventory management and material handling.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

May be required to work overtime or in shifts based on business needs.

Physical Demands / Work Conditions

Working inside a warehouse.

Squatting, twisting, bending, carrying, and lifting between 10-50 lbs.

Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Stand for prolonged periods of time.

Repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
