Nurse Practitioner Resident

Job Description Highland Family Medicine is seeking Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Residents for its 2026‑27 class. Candidates will complete a 1‑year FNP residency with the Highland Family Medicine team, beginning the first week of September 2026 and continuing through August 31, 2027. Successful completion may lead to permanent FNP placement and eligibility for loan forgiveness as part of the Advance Nurse Education Residency program.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care to patients across the lifespan during precepted continuity clinics, adhering to professional Nurse Practitioner standards and guidelines.
Participate in structured post‑graduate residency training sessions, including rotations through specialty clinics, weekly formal learning sessions, chronic disease management, inter‑professional population health projects, didactic leadership training, and team quality‑improvement cycles.
Engage in a practice call that begins about four months into the program and spans a 6‑month duration.

Official graduate‑school transcripts.
Personal statement, including future professional goals.
Three letters of recommendation submitted to

(ideally one academic and two professional).
Travel Urban‑track residents will be expected to travel five days per week during their residency year, typically to our rural partners at TCFM in Dansville or Canaseraga, NY. Most specialty rotations occur in Rochester, with possible travel to Brockport or Canandaigua; travel reimbursement is not available for the urban track.
Salary Range $82,430.00
annually (grant‑funded)
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this position. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Job Requirements
Education:
Fulfill the educational requirements to be a licensed FNP.
Experience:
3‑5 years of experience as a registered nurse prior to completing a Master’s program is desired.
License/Certification:
Be a licensed nurse practitioner in New York for specialty practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner with full prescriptive privileges by the start of the residency. Active FDA registration to prescribe Category II‑V drugs, national Family Practice certification preferred (e.g., ANCC, ANA, ANA‑CNA), and BLS certification required.
Employment Status Full‑time, 40 hours per week, days shift, Rochester, New York.
