Registered Nurse II (RN) 3 Surgical FT 7a to 7p
Registered Nurse (RN) II is a licensed staff nurse at the Competent to Proficient stage of Benner’s model of clinical practice. The role provides professional nursing care for a diverse patient population, conducts assessments, assists with examinations, provides patient education, and maintains medical records. RN II collaborates effectively with physicians and the interprofessional health‑care team to coordinate compassionate, efficient, high‑quality care.

Qualifications Education
Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s).
Experience
Twelve months registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment.
Licenses and Certifications – Required
RN – Registered Nurse – Texas State Licensure – Texas Board of Nursing, PSV Compact Licensure – must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency).
BLS – Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA).
NIHSTROKE – National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification (AHA).
Preferred
Magnet certification – ANCC Recognized Certification.

Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English for essential functions involving patient or employee safety.

Essential Functions People
Use therapeutic communication (active listening, teaching) to build relationships with patients, families, and the health‑care team.
Guide and collaborate with the team, offer assistance, and respond positively to requests.
Provide staff education, coach and mentor other staff and students; conduct preceptorship.
Apply peer‑to‑peer accountability to improve department scores for turnover, retention, and employee engagement.
Service
Follow patient‑ and family‑centered care standards; conduct assessments, assist with exams, maintain records.
Develop, update, and communicate plan of care; prioritize care based on needs.
Advocate for patients and families to resolve clinical and ethical concerns.
Teach patients according to learning needs, evaluate comprehension, and adapt teaching methods.
Contribute to improvement of department patient‑satisfaction scores.
Quality/Safety
