Sous Chef Manasquan River Golf Club, a premier private club in Monmouth County, New Jersey, is seeking a qualified Sous Chef to join our dynamic and professional culinary team. This position reports directly to the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef and plays a key role in delivering exceptional à la carte dining and banquet experiences for our membership. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated culinary professional seeking long-term growth while working under the direction of an American Culinary Federation Certified Executive Chef, gaining valuable experience in a high-standard private club environment that values quality, teamwork, and culinary excellence. Position Overview
The ideal candidate is a motivated culinary professional with strong foundational cooking skills, emerging leadership ability, and a collaborative, team-first mindset, capable of thriving in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment. This is a full-time, year-round position offering opportunities for professional development and advancement within the culinary department. Key Responsibilities
Ensure all recipes, food preparations, and presentations meet Club standards and commitment to quality Maintain proper mise en place, organization, cleanliness, and sanitation at all times Train and supervise culinary staff; lead the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef Demonstrate accountability for station execution, team performance, and overall kitchen standards Uphold and enforce proper food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures Assist with purchasing, food cost control, product identification, and inventory management Communicate effectively with both front-of-house and back-of-house teams Support consistent menu execution with strong attention to detail Qualifications & Skills
Butchery Saucier Batch cooking Grilling Minimum of one year of supervisory or leadership experience in a professional kitchen environment Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced operation Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills ServSafe certification preferred; ability to obtain certification required A true team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic Work Schedule
This position requires a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by Club operations.
