Requirements
No Experience Required.
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification required within 6 months of hire.
Preferred education: BS-MLS degree.
Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to stand and walk for long periods, occasionally stand or walk with objects up to 10 pounds, push/pull objects over 50 pounds, sit at computer workstations for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions.
Shift Three 12‑hour shifts per week, rotating shifts including weekends and holidays. May include on‑call duties based on department needs.
Job Summary The Medical Laboratory Scientist/Certified will perform clinical laboratory testing in a fast‑paced academic medical center. Services are provided to a Level I trauma center, solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. The Core Lab includes multiple sites: Chandler, Good Samaritan, ED Satellite, and Markey Satellite. The laboratory is CAP‑accredited and uses state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation. Responsibilities include maintaining quality of service through accurate and timely result reporting and performing testing in blood gas, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, and urinalysis.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Exceptional customer service, excellent technical and troubleshooting skills, detail orientation, and collaboration across roles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, technical writing, hospital electronic systems, medical terminology, independence, and teamwork.
