Responsibilities Three Rivers Midlands is a comprehensive behavioral health facility treating children and adolescents through residential and rehabilitative behavioral health services (RBH). The Nurse Practitioner (NP) serves as an advanced practice nurse in psychiatric mental health nursing, working in both direct and indirect patient care activities. Direct care includes physical and psychiatric assessments, therapeutic interventions, and case management services. Indirect care includes consultation, staff education, and prescriptive authority achieved via collaboration with a psychiatrist.

Qualifications

One (1) year of nursing experience preferred.

Masters of Science in Nursing with a Psychiatric/Mental Health emphasis from an accredited college or university.

Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of South Carolina.

BLS certification training required.

Valid SC driver's license preferred.

Completion of hospital orientation requirements.

Maintains compliance with all hospital policies and requirements.

Follows practice protocols agreed upon by supervising physician.

Serves as a consultant to staff, providing education about psychiatric medication, conditions, and caregiver interventions; provides individual, group, and family therapy as needed.

Provides education as needed to patients, families, and significant others.

Provides case management services, coordinating all aspects of the treatment plan with other team members and community agencies.

Orders labs and tests.

Maintains and reviews patient medical documents and records.

Formulates an appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination, and clinical findings.

Orders appropriate diagnostic tests.

Prescribes pharmacologic agents.

Obtains informed consent for psychotropic medications and provides education.

Prescribes non‑pharmacologic therapies.

Refers to other health professionals and community agencies.

Determines effectiveness of care plan through documentation of outcomes.

Reassesses and modifies the plan as necessary to achieve goals.

Assists family in planning for home care, providing instructions on techniques and methods.

Participates in treatment planning, implementation, and monitoring.

Participates in quality improvement activities, including systematic review of records and treatment plans.

Orders consultations.

Dictates admission orders and discharge summaries.

Successfully completes all required trainings via in‑services and/or Healthstream on time.

Responsibility delegated by psychiatrist.

Maintains current credentials and continuing medical education.
