The Human Services Program Manager will manage staff within the Public Assistance Division who administer and support public assistance programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, and TANF. If you enjoy providing leadership and managerial oversight of multiple support programs, this full‑time position at the Prince William County Department of Social Services (DSS) is for you.
About This Role: In this role, you will promote staff development and growth, promote the customer service perspective, represent the department at meetings, hearings, and public events while actively participating in organizational, strategic, and tactical planning for the division.
Additional duties include project and program management; monitor and evaluate staff and program performance; collect and analyze data and forecast possible outcomes; participate in policy development and revisions; participate in budget planning and management; establish methods for ensuring compliance with federal, state and local policies, procedures and guidelines; and implement actions to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Minimum Requirements: The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 8 years of related experience with public assistance administration and programs.
Preferences:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in human services, social work, or a related field.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
2 or more years of experience working in VaCMS.
3 or more years of:
Supervisory experience in a Human Services program.
Experience with public assistance programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, and TANF.
Understanding policies and determining eligibility for public assistance.
Customer service experience in a fast‑paced environment.
Special Requirements:
All DSS staff are required to provide emergency human services work, including staffing emergency shelters in the event of a community disaster.
Candidates must pass criminal history, child protective services, and DMV background checks.
Resource/foster parents for youth in the Prince William foster‑care program may not be employed by the Prince William Department of Social Services. Resource/foster parents for youth from other localities are welcome to apply.
Staff in this position are eligible to telework but may be required to report to the office intermittently. Telework eligibility is subject to change as business needs warrant; there is no guarantee of telework.
Work Schedule: 37.5 hour work week; supervisor will determine specific work schedule (sometime between 8:00 and 5:00pm).
Hiring Salary Range: $98,475 - $128,017.50
