Business and Operations Manager
Deposely is a legal tech startup that is transforming the way lawyers conduct depositions of witnesses through AI. The use of planning, real‑time assistance during depositions, and post‑deposition analysis significantly impacts lawyer efficiency and their ability to win cases. Deposely partners with large court‑reporting agencies and sells to law firms from solo practices to top‑100 American law firms.
Role Overview As the first Business and Operations hire, you’ll wear multiple hats: process builder, hands‑on operator to prove out business processes, and run important processes for the company. You’ll be responsible for running business processes (bookkeeping, financial reporting), payments (to partners, sales commissions, payroll, line‑of‑business applications), and help the company grow (plan expanding office footprint, onboard employees). You will also support the COO in company financial responsibilities.
Your Impact
Oversee finances (financial reporting, bookkeeping, monitor budgets, payroll/commissions)
Work with contract CFO (chart of accounts, tax audit)
Work with COO on budget/forecast
Accounts payable with key strategic partners and automate system expenses (IT systems, key tools)
Business Analysis
Tracking and analysis of financial and company KPIs
Configuration and tuning of sales pipeline tools to support key KPIs
Special business analysis projects for the COO to support rapid company growth
Human Resources & Space Planning
Coordinate hiring, onboarding, staff records
Plan office space to keep ahead of company growth (working with current vendor and locating larger spaces)
Help plan quarterly meetings and rhythm of the business
Be part of a startup team
Develop strategies to streamline and improve business operations, keeping ahead of rapid growth. Oversee compliance, risk management and operational policies.
6+ years in Business Administration and leading operational functions with small businesses
Proven experience building company processes from scratch
Excellent communication, business, and relationship‑building skills in a startup environment
Comfortable with ambiguity, fast growth, and startup pace
Experience with tools like Carta, Pulley, Rippling, QuickBooks, Zoom, Slack, Google Workspace
Ideal Candidate
Prior experience in 10‑50 person tech startups
Familiarity with financial processes (bookkeeping, tax, payroll, accounts payable)
