Job Title:
Transportation Planner
Type:
5-month contract (with possible extension)
Pay Range:
$20/hr - $23/hour
Schedule:
Monday through Friday 7:30-4:30 PM OR 8:00-5:00 PM
Summary The Transportation Planner is responsible for planning and executing day-to-day packaged truck deliveries for the Salt business unit within an
American multinational food corporation . This role partners closely with Sales, Supply Chain, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and timely transportation solutions. The position focuses on carrier utilization, order management, and delivery execution while maintaining service and cost performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, and optimize carrier utilization while preparing cost and service reports and communicating effectively with internal teams and external carriers.
Collaborate with Sales and Supply Chain partners to understand demand requirements and make best-value transportation decisions that meet customer needs.
Execute sourcing strategies by tendering and managing transportation orders in SAP using tiered carrier rankings.
Manage daily transportation operations for assigned plants and public warehouses, including building loads, tracking unrouted orders, coordinating ship and delivery dates, resolving load changes or add-ons, and reviewing and approving carrier invoices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant transportation or logistics experience, or 4 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience working with transportation management systems such as SAP and managing carrier relationships.
Ability to successfully complete required background checks and mandatory health and safety onboarding.
