Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
At least two (2) years of RN experience.
Recent RN experience in an Ambulatory Cardiology Clinic, including experience providing telephone triage to adult patients to manage symptoms.
Experience providing ongoing care coordination for patients, addressing symptom telephone calls, answering EMR messages, obtaining prior authorizations for medications, and refilling medications.
Experience and advanced understanding of the medical management of heart failure and other cardiac diseases.
Experience providing patient education and caring for patients with heart failure and other cardiac diseases.
Experience providing direct patient care including administering immunizations, starting IVs, drawing lab specimens, and administering IV medication.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately.
Knowledge of current trends in nursing.

Effective interpersonal skills.

Department Overview UC Davis Cardiology Outpatient Services provides comprehensive, innovative, and quality care for patients with heart conditions including coronary heart disease, heart valve disease (structural), heart failure (advanced cardiac therapies), heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia), and risk factor reduction. Together our team of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, device technicians, medical assistants, and clerical staff strive daily to exceed patient expectations for exceptional care. The program is nationally recognized for our excellence by U.S. News and World Report, and the clinic hosts 20,000 patient visits per year.
Department Specific Job Scope The Heart Failure Care Coordinators oversee the care of UC Davis Heart Failure Clinic patients. The RN manages the EMR list of Heart Failure Clinic patients. The position is responsible for reviewing new lab results, reports, and remote pulmonary artery pressure monitoring for these patients. At clinic appointments, the RN is responsible for medication management (teaching, compliance, reconciliation), disease management (HF education, lab draws, physical assessment, diuretic administration), and supports the HF physicians and NP.
